Hey Mastodons!
If you're a freshman, welcome to Purdue Fort Wayne! We're so glad you're here. If you're a sophomore or junior, welcome back! You know the drill. And if you're a senior... hey, have you applied for graduation yet? No, seriously. Go double-check with your advisor. Make sure you're on track and everything is good to go.
Now, let us introduce ourselves.
We’re The Draft; a student-run blog made to help you with writing, whenever and wherever you need it. Whether you're writing a discussion post, a research paper, or even a last-minute presentation, we’ve got your back.
The Writing Center at PFW is awesome for in-person or eConsult appointments. You can sit down with someone who knows their stuff and get a second opinion before you hit submit. But what about those moments when it’s 10:30 on a Friday night, your essay is due at midnight, and you’re running on Red Bull and determination? That’s where we come in.
The Draft offers quick, helpful, sometimes even funny posts about writing, presentations, grammar tips, citation help, and more. We’ve got how-tos, opinion pieces on hot takes in academia, and guides for the times you’re staring at a blinking cursor thinking “What even is a thesis?”
The best part? This isn’t some dry academic blog. It’s written by students, for students. So yes, we do talk about serious stuff, but we also like to keep it cool. Expect the occasional humorous post or little activity.
We normally post every other week, but if you’ve got a question that just can’t wait, don’t panic. You can make an appointment at the Writing Center using the link below, or just swing by the first floor of Helmke Library during our business hours. Appointments are your best bet to guarantee one-on-one help, though walk-ins are always welcome if we’ve got the space.
So stay tuned! We’ve got writing tips, advice columns, student showcases, and maybe even some fun activities planned. Want to know more about us? Check out our About page to meet our contributors and team. We’re just like you– juggling classes, deadlines, and figuring it all out one word at a time.
Welcome to The Draft. Happy writing! And as always, no red pens here!
